Rethinking 'back to school' shopping...

We've never really been a family that makes a big shopping trip right before school starts each year. I'm not sure about your kids, but ours grew the entire year, and therefore ended up needing bigger sizes all throughout the year, not just in August.
So we would grab things as they needed them (mostly hand-me-downs or thrift store purchases, if possible). We also don't really love to shop - and especially not when the rest of the town is also hunting for kids clothes at the same time!
So instead of heading out for a day of (stressful) shopping - in hopes of maybe finding things your kids actually want to wear -- why not try skipping the long day of searching and buying, save some money, and just have them wear what they already own??
When things get too small, replace those items - one at a time, as needed - and keep their closets and dressers from busting at the seams with things they might not even wear, but just wanted to buy during that shopping trip.
Take it one step further, and weed through the items they no longer wear (it's probably half of what they have), donate it to local organizations who will gladly take gently used items, and free up space in your kid(s) room(s). Less laundry to wash is just an added bonus!
